Community Benefits

Positive Impacts to the Woodbridge Community

Along with helping Connecticut reach its clean energy goals, this project will benefit the Town of Woodbridge economically and environmentally.

This project is more than just a solar farm – it represents hope for the Soufrine Family to keep their land for future generations. It can also provide new tax revenue to your community, help improve soil quality over time and reduce stress on the local environment.

The Soundview Solar project is projected to produce enough energy to power approximately 100 homes each year over its 25-30-year lifespan.

Environmental Benefits

  • The land can rest and regenerate during the project’s life, improving soil health and preserving it for future use. At the end of its lifespan, the solar is removed, and the land is restored to its original state.

  • Improve local air quality by decreasing the use of coal and natural gas. Generating electricity with solar produces no polluting carbon dioxide emissions.

  • Solar energy production uses significantly less water compared to fossil fuel-based energy generation, reducing the stress on local water resources.

  • Increase rural resilience through continued local ownership of the land.

  • Supports Connecticut’s commitment to achieve zero-carbon electricity by 2040 with a clean, renewable energy source.

Economic Benefits

  • This project will contribute to local taxes, which will increase local revenue and can be used to fund community services, schools, and infrastructure improvements, like roads.
