About the Soundview Solar Project
The proposed Soundview Solar project is an estimated 1.99 MW AC (2.439 MW DC) solar energy project located on 8.73 acres of land at 16 Soundview Drive in Woodbridge, Connecticut.
The project site is designed to have minimal environmental impacts with no disruptions to wetlands or core forest.
The project will generate enough clean, low-cost energy to power approximately 100 homes per year.
Environmental Considerations
This project will have minimal to no impact on wetlands, forest habitat, and important species.
Wetlands
There are no wetlands on site. A field scientist performed a wetland delineation and found no wetlands within the parcel boundaries.
Core Forest
There is no core forest on site. Core forest was not found within 1/3 of a mile of the project parcel boundaries.
Important Species
Important species will be protected. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) reviewed the Natural Diversity Data Base (NDDB) and found that the state-listed species of Eastern Box Turtle have been documented near the proposed project area. The developer is preparing detailed plans following best management practices to protect any Eastern Box Turtle that may enter the project parcel boundaries before, during, and after construction.
Other Considerations
Approval
The developer is required to acquire approval from the Connecticut Siting Council (CSC) for the Soundview Solar project. The developer will also work closely with municipal departments in Woodbridge throughout the project’s development. Soundview Solar will also obtain a Stormwater Discharge Permit from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
Maintenance & Decommissioning
Project plans include long-term maintenance and upkeep of the facility. These plans also outline the process to decommission and restore the site to its original state at the end of the solar farm’s operational life, typically 25-30 years.
